Below are some frequently asked questions you might receive from your students about the updated ATI TEAS. You can download our printable student faq here.
I took the test prior to August 31, and need to re-test. What study materials should I use?
Because of the content updates that occurred for the ATI TEAS, the TEAS V preparation materials will not provide the tester with a comprehensive overview of the topics assessed. Individuals preparing for the ATI TEAS will want to purchase the ATI TEAS preparation materials.
What test do I need to take?
If you are taking the test prior to August 31, 2016 you will need to study and test on the TEAS V exam. If you are testing on or after August 31, 2016 you will study for the ATI TEAS.
What score do I need to achieve?
You will need to check with the health science program you are applying to for the required TEAS score for admissions. The scoring method will be changing from the ATI TEAS V.
What is the difference between the two tests?
The ATI TEAS will be similar in difficulty level to the previous version of the TEAS. Content updates were made to align with current education standards deemed important for entry level health science applicants to possess.
Can I use a calculator on the ATI TEAS? Can I use a calculator on the current TEAS V?
The ATI TEAS, being released August 31, 2016, will allow for the use of a four function calculator. Please do not bring your own calculator as a calculator will be embedded within the online version of the exam. For paper pencil versions of the TEAS test, the testing center will provide a four-function calculator.
Calculator use is not allowed when taking the TEAS V, as at the time of its development, the decision to allow calculator use was not part of the outlined standardized testing environment. The standardized testing environment needs to be maintained for all testers taking the TEAS V.
What content updates will be made to the ATI TEAS?
The decision to update the TEAS V was informed by content experts to reflect the most current educational standards. You can view an overview of the ATI TEAS content here. Because of these content updates, students testing on or after August 31 will need to purchase the sixth edition study manual.
